![]() HIGH NOTES & LOW NOTESBy MARY HUHN March 30, 2003 -- Big-time busking: At this month's South by Southwest music festival in Austin, indie rockers such as ex-Dream Syndicate's Steve Wynn and Yo La Tengo's Ira Kaplan and Georgia Hubley enjoyed street-corner music by the superb Allen Oldies Band, which covers '60s hits. Tireless frontman Allen Hill tossed lace panties into the crowd - so that when he sang "What's New, Pussycat?" his fans would throw them back. He's no Tom Jones, but he's close enough.
